Lavia Ekstensive
Growing medium for extensive green roofs, rain gardens and rock gardens – Lavia Ekstensive is a lightweight mineral-organic growing medium designed for plants with modest growing requirements. Its low weight, high permeability and moderate water-holding capacity reduce the need for intensive maintenance.
It is used primarily in shallow extensive green roof systems and in projects where low structural loads and straightforward maintenance are essential. It is ideal for plants tolerant of periodic dry conditions, such as sedums, mosses and other ground-cover plants.

Fine basalt aggregate up to 1 mm – provides effective drainage and helps prevent compaction of the growing medium

Growing medium for intensive green roofs, roof gardens and landscaped areas over structural slabs –
Lavia Intensive is a specialist growing medium with a higher nutrient content and water-holding capacity, creating conditions similar to natural soil. Its carefully designed structure provides stability, water retention and an optimum environment for more demanding plants.
It is used in landscaping projects involving more elaborate planting schemes on intensive green roofs and terraces, in landscaped areas over structural slabs and in urban spaces. It can be used to establish lawns, herbaceous perennial beds, shrub and tree planting, and complete roof gardens.

How does an extensive substrate differ from an intensive substrate?
An extensive substrate is a lightweight growing medium applied in a shallow layer and intended for low-maintenance planting. It combines low weight and good permeability with a lower organic content, making it suitable for systems where low structural loads and minimal maintenance input are important.
An intensive substrate has a more complex structure and a higher organic matter content, supporting more demanding plants. It is used in projects where the growing medium functions in a similar way to natural soil, providing appropriate water retention, nutrient availability and stability for larger, more demanding plantings.
